2.2.3    Needs Assessment: Surveys

 

Instructional staff are surveyed one or more times per year to help determine their professional development needs and to evaluate the success of our technology integration initiatives.  Recent results suggest:

  • The tablet computer technology integration program remains popular with staff.  Now that over 80% of teachers have completed the program, these teachers are seeking additional professional development topics through shorter, more focused workshops on specific skills/programs.  These teachers use technology on a daily basis to help accomplish their instructional goals.
  • Teachers are asking for additional tools to help them aggregate data for instructional decision-making, such as those used with the Interactive Achievement program.
  • Over 50% of instructional staff are currently requesting additional staff development with classroom applications of:
    • Microsoft Excel
    • Website Development
    • Blogs, Podcasts and RSS
    • Document Cameras
    • Digital Cameras
    • Video Production with Flip Video and Camcorders
  • Nearly 50% of instructional staff are also requesting additional staff development with classroom applications of:
    • Microsoft PowerPoint
    • Microsoft Outlook
    • Internet Explorer (Advanced Functions)
    • Wireless LCD Projectors
    • Microsoft OneNote
    • Tablet PC Functions
