Bath County Public Schools

Technology Integration Programs

Curriculum Loft  -  1:1 Tablet Project Introduction & Guidelines

Technology integration in classroom instruction has come a long way since the first computers were installed in Bath's three schools over thirty years ago--classroom instruction has been transformed to take advantage of many benefits that technology brings to public education.  It is our school division’s clear expectation that all Bath County Public Schools students receive and benefit from a high quality education that incorporates 21st Century teaching and learning.  Indeed, all Virginia schools are required to incorporate technology Standards of Learning into classroom instruction, and our core curricular areas are assessed by state tests delivered online.

Mobile computing devices have taken personal computing to new levels, with tablets and smartphones redefining what we call a computer, and significantly changing how we relate with each other and the world around us.  Apple iOS and Android tablets have been used in schools for the last several years, but have had limited success without a strong management system in place and teacher supports to address challenges that inevitably occur.  Bath County Public Schools is pleased to announce two new initiatives that show great promise to further change the way we deliver instruction to students and monitor their progress:  The Curriculum Loft Instructional Management System and The Kuno 1:1 Tablet Project for students in grades six through nine.  The program started in the spring of 2014 with students in grades six and eight that were assigned new tablets for their exclusive use.  Those students will continue to use tablets in the fall of 2014 as seventh and ninth graders, while new sixth and eighth grade students will begin to use tablets by October 1, 2014.

We are excited that this new program is underway, and look forward to the benefits provided to students over time.  The document below includes program guidelines & procedures, information from our insurance company, and a student/parent signature form.
