:

plan: 2.2.1.5 Professional Development

2.2.1.5  Professional Development

The primary technology professional development component for instructional staff continues to be the popular tablet computer technology integration program, in place since 2006.  The 45-hour inservice program equips teachers with skills--and hardware/software--to provide 21st Century instruction to all students.

While all licensed staff members have demonstrated competence with the Virginia Technology Standards for Instructional Personnel, school leaders understand that these basic skills are just the starting point for instructional staff to be able to teach 21st Century Skills.  The National Educational Technology Standards for Teachers (NETS-T) provide a more realistic goal for staff to strive toward.

Bath County Public Schools technology has been featured at a number of state and regional teacher professional development workshops over the last several years, including the VDOE Educational Technology Leadership Conference, the Virginia Society for Technology in Education annual conference, Richmond regional technology consortium workshops, the Virginia State Math Teachers’ conference, the Mid-Atlantic Web Manager’s conference and the VSBA Governor's Conference.
