When to Visit a Counselor
 
Sometimes we need a helping hand, a little advice, or just someone to listen to what we have to say.  When you need someone to talk to, your school counselor can be a great place to start.
 
Some reasons students visit:
  • Problems with friends
  • Problems at home
  • Worries and fears
  • Study skills help
  • Problem solving skills 
  • Improving social skills
  • Improving behavior
  • Being teased or bullied
  • Dealing with peer pressure
  • Dealing with emotions like anger, sadness, or frustration
  • Dealing with a change like divorce, death, or a new school
  • YOU JUST NEED A FRIEND TO TALK TO!
 
 
Ways students are referred to the counselor:
 
  • Self-referral
  • Teacher or principal referral
  • Parent referral
  • Peer referral
  • Counselor observation
