CARPENTRY/CABINETMAKING I - 1 Credit

These students will be learning the fundamentals of carpentry.  They will be learning tool identification and how to operate them.  Also, they will examine all aspects of the building industry.  First year students will learn to interpret blue prints, estimate and select materials and install all framing components.  Students will be introduced to safety as applied to the building industry and perform basic carpentry skills.

Prerequisite: None                                                                                                                                   Grades: 8-10

 

CARPENTRY/CABINETMAKING II - 2 Credits

Students in this class will learn how to create a safe work environment.  They will be introduced to exterior and interior finishes, and how to install them.  Also, they will learn how to cut and install casing and mold and how to install doors, windows and hardware.

Prerequisite: Carpentry/Cabinetmaking I                                                                                        Grades: 9-12

 

 

CARPENTRY/CABINETMAKING III - 2 Credits

These students will learn to build and install cabinets along with the hardware that goes with them.  Seniors will be able to co-op, if available, with contractors in the carpentry industry.
