How often do you use the following with your Tablet PC?

Multiple Times Per Day Weekly Monthly
  12345Rarely
Outlook
Word
Excel
PowerPoint
Publisher
OneNote
Internet Browsing
Other (please describe in Comment field below)

Please detail how you have used your tablet PC during instruction in the last two weeks.  Subjects/topics/software/activities/etc...  Are you at your desk/podium/moving around classroom/etc.

As my computer needs to be plugged in all the time I did not get to full utilize it in the classroom. I used it in creating my lesson plans such as using Word to create my Career BINGO, Community Helpers Booklet, and Community Helpers Mix-Up Puzzle. I also used PowerPoint, Paint, and Word when creating my unit's Jeopardy game, but was not able to use the computer to show the game and had to print out the cards and tape it up on the board. In the last few weeks I mostly used my computer to create several study skills activities to help prepare the third through seventh graders for their SOLs--I used Word and Paint to create handouts, but would definitely like to use them more in the classroom so I can show them up on the screen as the kids are going over it instead of just talking and writing up on the board.
Outside of the classroom I use my computer at my desk, and I use it in child study/eligibility/504 meetings, but need to always have the cord plugged in in order to get work done.

Please detail your use of the stylus and/or touchscreen of your tablet PC in the last two weeks.  What subjects, software, activities, etc.  Is a touchscreen acceptable, or do you need an active stylus for precision writing?

N/A-My current computer is not stylus/touchscreen capable.

To what new/newer computer would you prefer to upgrade?

Windows 7 or 8

I prefer this screen size:

12-13

How will you use technology differently when we upgrade your computer?

As of right now my computer use in classrooms/meetings is limited as my computer needs to be plugged in 24/7 or it shuts off. I haven't been able to use my computer as much this year in classrooms due to constantly needing it to be plugged in and traveling with all the accessories required. With an upgraded computer I would be able to show more video clips in classrooms to emphasize my lessons and character traits that I am teaching about, as well as use my computer for a more hands-on learning to show the students examples instead of just describing them (using PowerPoint a lot more in the classroom). I would also be able to go to meetings without immediately finding the closest outlet to plug into in fear that my computer will die and lose information while at a child study/eligibility/504 meeting.

What kind of assistance would you like to have from your school instructional technology resource teacher?

If the upgraded computer has Windows 8, a rundown of the differences/changes would be appreciated as my experience with the new Windows is limited. I am also always open to new sits and resources to check out in order to use them with my classroom lessons.

Comments

I use Paint a lot when creating lessons--especially when creating my examples in the classroom.
I also go on Teachers Pay Teachers to help with classroom lesson plans.
