Please detail how you have used your tablet PC during instruction in the last two weeks. Subjects/topics/software/activities/etc... Are you at your desk/podium/moving around classroom/etc.
I use my overhead projector a lot in my instruction, which includes the use of my PC. I try to incorporate educational videos on my overhead whenever possible, such as videos from BrainPop. Visuals also help my students so they can see pictures of what we are learning. For example, when we were studying about Famous Americans, I showed them pictures of George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, etc. We also looked at where they live, why they are well known, etc. We also were reading about the Grand Canyon, and we looked at pictures. They were amazed at what they could see on the internet. We also looked at pictures and videos of the Great Wall of China when we were learning about Ancient China. These are just a few examples. We also play educational games that correlate with our SOLs. My students enjoy playing games together on the overhead, where they take turns coming to the front and completing whatever task they need to complete. There is a game called "Stop The Clock" that we played when we were learning about time. A few students came to the front at a time, and raced to tell the time shown on the clocks. We also have "brain breaks" frequently, and my students really enjoy the use of Go Noodle. They love to get up and move! It is truly an incentive to get their work complete. I am sometimes at my desk (rarely), but usually up moving around the classroom so I can actively monitor them while they are working.
Please detail your use of the stylus and/or touchscreen of your tablet PC in the last two weeks. What subjects, software, activities, etc. Is a touchscreen acceptable, or do you need an active stylus for precision writing?
I do not have a touchscreen currently on my computer. I used to use OneNote a lot, and now my styles does not work. A touchscreen would be acceptable, whatever newer model there is I would be more than happy to have.
To what new/newer computer would you prefer to upgrade?
Windows 8
I prefer this screen size:
12-13
How will you use technology differently when we upgrade your computer?
I still plan to use it in my instruction whenever possible. I know how much my students enjoy the use of technology in instruction right now. I would definitely be interested in learning different ways to incorporate technology in instruction with a computer upgrade.
What kind of assistance would you like to have from your school instructional technology resource teacher?
I would only need assistance if needed with any computer programs I am not familiar with when it comes to the upgraded computer. My technology resource teacher is very good at being there when needed.
