5. Please detail how you have used your tablet PC during instruction in the last two weeks.  Subjects/topics/software/activities/etc...  Are you at your desk/podium/moving around classroom/etc.

I have created powerpoints for vocabulary.  I recently went to a conference for ELL learners and I felt a powerpoint was good for me and good for the students to see the vocabulary word, definition, etc.  We have also watched youtube videos on pourquoi tales, as students in third grade are getting ready to read one.  I also use my computer to type up my lesson plans on Microsoft Word.  We are currently working on a KWL chart using Word where I type in student questions. I am moving around the room with different groups of students.
 (4%)

I use my tablet daily to connect to our classroom SMARTboard. My students receive math, science and history instruction using technology. We visit several differnt websites for instuction and use activities that were downloaded for the SMARTboard. We also use assorted software for number recognition and patterning and sequencing. During SMARTboard instruction my computer stays connected but I'm up moving around interacting with students. I move my computer to my desk during non-SMARTboard times.
 (4%)

I have made books for the students to do in class. I have used Google Images for pictures to go with words for the students. I use Publisher each week to do my update letter for parents. I have made word cards for my word wall.
 (4%)

In preschool, I do not use it that often during instruction. This is because most of the instruction is done in small groups or one to one using real objects. I have used it during large group instruction by projecting a selection from Youtube on the screen or showing a power point. I have also used the PC during Handwriting Without Tears instruction to allow the children to form the letters with the stylus and see them on the screen. Our attendance and observation records are computer programs that are used daily.

I used the tablet for powerpoint instruction to go with the lecture.  I made a test in word and the exam midterms.  I used it to show a video on fire extinguisher use.  I used it to make invoices for CookEnds cakes. Excel spreadsheet for the Work Place Readiness weekly grade given to all students.  I used it to keep in touch with Outlook Mail correspondence.  I placed an order for equipment, I looked up recipes.  I made a Millionaire game for reviewing for exams.  I use the test maker for making my midterms.
I researched a rubric for event planning with my 7/8 class.  I have them planning a powerpoint presentation for New Year's to meet the clients recommendations.  They will present in class through powerpoint.  I had students play a quizlet scatter game and try to beat each others times for review.  I made study flashcards on the quizlet site for use with some students.  I publish the notes from the powerpoint for IEP students.  Students keep track of cookends email and have a survey monkey account for all meals in cookends.  Students develop the surveys and send them to teachers in the building.

I use a lot of internet applications, so it's not exactly browsing per se. I use my computer largely as a desktop computer during lectures and connect it to my projector with a cord in order to allow for streaming of videos. Any new computer MUST be able to stream flawlessly through my projector. I'm constantly moving around the classroom, so a computer that would allow me to be even more mobile would be nice. I also need the new machine to be able to read my old files on Excel and PowerPoint.

I used the tablet to share content info from the internet related to a reading/writing project. A student used it to edit/revise their writing. For Kindergarten, I put a poem on the screen for them to read and practice voice print match, where I could hightlight words for them to read.  Currently I have the computer attached to the port replicator because I have to be wired to use my projector, but other times it goes with me to my table where I work with the students.

I use it always with my doc camera for math, and reading instruction. I use it with United Streaming and ixl math sites. I show other teachers powerpoints. If my stylus worked I would use one-note more but would like to refresh myself with that. I use it with my pocket recorder to film and download plays of the children

8th grade: PowerPoint (PPT) for notes about mirrors; I'm moving around the classroom, using the mobile PPT clicker that I own. Additionally, I needed to stand at the front of the room (at the computer) some because I wrote some notes entries on the PowerPoint slide using my stylus. Later, I showed a ScienceWorld video clip from internet about fast food. (It was associated with a ScienceWorld article that students had read.) Chemistry: PowerPoint for notes about atoms and the periodic table. I moved around the room some, but I also needed to move to the computer because I wrote some entries on my PowerPoint slides. Earlier, I used PPT to define terms relating to the Ideal Gas Law and Dalton's Law of Partial Pressure, using my stylus to emphasize or add items to the presentation. I then used OneNote to model sample problems using these equations. Once the problem was previously worked out; the other time, I worked the problem in front of the class. Physics: PowerPoint for notes about pendulum features and about electromagnetic induction (on different days). I moved around the room some, but when I transitioned to using OneNote for my sample problems, I moved to the computer so that I could write additional items on the work that I had written earlier with the stylus. I also had YouTube video clips ready for use, but ran out of time. (Note: the computer cannot move around the room because the battery has something like 10 minutes of capability left) Note: I use the tablet for lesson preparation as well--I did not detail this because it was not requested. I use Word and OneNote a lot in lesson preparation

As my computer needs to be plugged in all the time I did not get to full utilize it in the classroom. I used it in creating my lesson plans such as using Word to create my Career BINGO, Community Helpers Booklet, and Community Helpers Mix-Up Puzzle. I also used PowerPoint, Paint, and Word when creating my unit's Jeopardy game, but was not able to use the computer to show the game and had to print out the cards and tape it up on the board. In the last few weeks I mostly used my computer to create several study skills activities to help prepare the third through seventh graders for their SOLs--I used Word and Paint to create handouts, but would definitely like to use them more in the classroom so I can show them up on the screen as the kids are going over it instead of just talking and writing up on the board.
Outside of the classroom I use my computer at my desk, and I use it in child study/eligibility/504 meetings, but need to always have the cord plugged in in order to get work done.

I use my overhead projector a lot in my instruction, which includes the use of my PC. I try to incorporate educational videos on my overhead whenever possible, such as videos from BrainPop. Visuals also help my students so they can see pictures of what we are learning. For example, when we were studying about Famous Americans, I showed them pictures of George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, etc. We also looked at where they live, why they are well known, etc. We also were reading about the Grand Canyon, and we looked at pictures. They were amazed at what they could see on the internet. We also looked at pictures and videos of the Great Wall of China when we were learning about Ancient China. These are just a few examples. We also play educational games that correlate with our SOLs. My students enjoy playing games together on the overhead, where they take turns coming to the front and completing whatever task they need to complete. There is a game called "Stop The Clock" that we played when we were learning about time. A few students came to the front at a time, and raced to tell the time shown on the clocks. We also have "brain breaks" frequently, and my students really enjoy the use of Go Noodle. They love to get up and move! It is truly an incentive to get their work complete. I am sometimes at my desk (rarely), but usually up moving around the classroom so I can actively monitor them while they are working.

I have not used the touchscreen lately-mostly because I have to be wired for screen use...but also the stylus/touchscreen are not as user-friendly because the stylus is 'off target' when writing.

I use to use my stylus to highlight word patters, I had kids do it to but found it took way to mlong for this unless you were just working with a few.. They had trouble manipulating the pen . I would do matching, circle things ect as in money comparisons. Now I just do it on paper with my doc camera. I would draw fractions and color them in.

Stylus/tablet feature began to act weird at the end of last year so I have not utilized this feature as much this year. In years past I have used OneNote almost daily to remediate math.

The stylus is very important to me and makes the tablet the GREAT tool that it is. I depend on it. PLEASE don't take it away from me (unless you know of an improvement). Here are some of the ways that I used it during the last week: 8th grade science: I needed to stand at the front of the room (at the computer) some because I wrote some notes entries on the PowerPoint slide using my stylus. Additionally, the stylus was invaluable during this unit about waves because I use the stylus to draw most of my transverse waves: on Word documents as well as on PPT. This occurred both during instruction and during lesson preparation. Chemistry: I used the stylus to write some entries on my previously typed PowerPoint slides about the periodic table. Earlier, I used PPT to define terms relating to the Ideal Gas Law and Dalton's Law of Partial Pressure, using my stylus to emphasize or add items to the presentation. I then used OneNote to model sample problems using these equations. One time, the problem was previously worked out--I had written the solution out ahead of time using the stylus; the other time, I worked out the problem's solution in front of the class. I used the stylus in both cases. Physics: I transitioned to using OneNote for my sample problems. I moved to the computer so that I could use the stylus to write additional items on the problem solutions that I had written earlier, using the stylus.

I will be able to use my new interactive projector with the students. I am not entirley sure how that works yet.

I would like the ability to use OneNote again (without becoming frustrated). For several reasons:
- I have unliminted room to write and explain concepts.
- I can highlight and color code important vocabulary.
- I can print notes for students who miss class.
- I can task-analysis new concepts for students who are having difficulty.
I believe technology is important to all students and they should have a fundemental knowledge of how to use it. As our world progresses more and more items in our everyday world will become advanced through technology. Having students exposed to this now will be beneficial in the future.
 (4%)

I confess that I do not know the answer to this question. This is because I do not know the following: a) what the new technology is capable of; and b) whether it is useful and reliable in the classroom. I do know that I grew into the new technology that I was presented with in 2007(?). I constantly used it in new ways in the years following that, even this year. I fully expect that I will continue to do the same in the years to come.

As of right now my computer use in classrooms/meetings is limited as my computer needs to be plugged in 24/7 or it shuts off. I haven't been able to use my computer as much this year in classrooms due to constantly needing it to be plugged in and traveling with all the accessories required. With an upgraded computer I would be able to show more video clips in classrooms to emphasize my lessons and character traits that I am teaching about, as well as use my computer for a more hands-on learning to show the students examples instead of just describing them (using PowerPoint a lot more in the classroom). I would also be able to go to meetings without immediately finding the closest outlet to plug into in fear that my computer will die and lose information while at a child study/eligibility/504 meeting.
 (4%)

Having an upgraded computer will allow me to demonstrate for the students what they will need to type/click on when they go to the computer lab. I will have the same screen and icons as the computers there and can show them what their screen will look like and what they will need to do.
 (4%)

I will need to see what new programs are available before I decide that. I am sure I will find new ways to use it!
 (4%)

I still plan to use it in my instruction whenever possible. I know how much my students enjoy the use of technology in instruction right now. I would definitely be interested in learning different ways to incorporate technology in instruction with a computer upgrade.

(I've 3 situations this year where students were unable to do their work due to poor wireless connection, and I refuse to engage in any more such work in my classroom until the issue is fixed--I will use the computer lab for all such acitivities.) Should I get an upgraded computer, I expect that I will have questions, and I will ask those questions as they come up.

Would need to have assistance with proper shut down, moving from screen to screen, ways to access information, etc. that are different from the way I accomplish those tasks now. Assistance would be needed with moving folders from my old computer to my new computer.

If the upgraded computer has Windows 8, a rundown of the differences/changes would be appreciated as my experience with the new Windows is limited. I am also always open to new sits and resources to check out in order to use them with my classroom lessons.

I would only need assistance if needed with any computer programs I am not familiar with when it comes to the upgraded computer. My technology resource teacher is very good at being there when needed.

I will more than likely need training on how to use the new operating system and on how to use the new tablet in general. I will also need help in getting the tablet set up with the Smart Board as well.

I am looking forward to having a better computer. I am so glad I did decide to have the tablet and it has been a life saver in many ways. It has also been very frustrating for the past 2 months with cutting off on me when I have been using it. It will also cut off during the day but I am glad to be getting one that will work much better.

I just went to a National Early Childhood Conference (NAEYC) and I saw the most amazing table top iPad type thing. Four children could play on the touch table top, using game "pieces" that had their pictures on them. There was also a built in microphone, so the teacher could take observations without even being there!

This year we have learned the Survey Monkey and it has been helpful in making menus for CookEnds and feedback from the meals.
Please let me keep my old computer to have a computer for students to use in my classroom.

Will my new laptop be able to stream videos onto the screen through the projector without the buffering problems that come with trying to stream wirelessly? As I have a docking station now, will the new computer have something similar?

I have been using a software for graphic organizers, but not as much as I will when I can have the students use the whiteboard. I also use computer 'games' for working with math students, or some specific reading skills.

I will learn whatever. I want to know more. Just tell me what all I can do on this machine and I am willing to stay afterschool and learn once a week. Not sure if questions 1 is right. I asked several teachers and they weren't sure either.

I feel that technology is the avenue we need to move towards in order to keep up with the students interest.

Technology needs to be a part of the classroom daily; students with tablets need them charged and on them during all classes.

I use Paint a lot when creating lessons--especially when creating my examples in the classroom.
I also go on Teachers Pay Teachers to help with classroom lesson plans.

The tablet that I have now has a 13" screen and I would not like to have anything smaller than that if possible.
I, of course use my tablet for lesson planning, data collection, IEP's, Child Plus for attendance and Head Start requirements.
