STEM Literacy
Reading and writing occurs across the curriculum, including the sciences. Schools today are placing more emphasis on STEM: Science, Technology, Math and Engineering in the elementary classroom. At Family Reading Night, we saw how we can use literacy to enhance inquiry and problem-solving skills, and how we can use good fiction or information books to integrate and connect learning. Parents can encourage reading not just for pleasure, but also as a gateway to learning in all areas...both at school and at home, to learn about what they are most interested in.
