Pick your own motivation for learning about Copyright and how it relates to students and educators. Yes, Copyright does matter in Bath County Schools. All users of school division print resources, VCRs, computers, software and network resources are obligated to obey copyright laws, Bath County School Board Policy and general ethical principles of fairness when copyright issues arise.
Copyright Issues are addressed in the Constitution of the United States, state & federal law, Bath County School Board policies, and Acceptable Computer Use regulations. You learned in kindergarten most of what you need to know about copyright--if it's not yours then don't take it unless you have the owner's permission. There are a number of twists and turns with copyright law that you may not be aware of--please ensure that you are up-to-date with copyright issues!

Take a look at the sites below, and if you're still unsure about how copyright applies to a situation, ask a library media specialist, computer coordinator or division administrator. They may not have the answer right away, but they WILL get back to you!
