Announcements: Letter to BCPS Staff from Superintendent Smith

Title

Letter to BCPS Staff from Superintendent Smith

Body

October 12, 2009

Dear BCPS Staff Member:

We, as educators, are facing a challenging task in dealing with children who are sick with flu-like illnesses, and it is easy for us to overlook our own health symptoms as we try to help our students.

Please, if you have flu symptoms, stay at home for at least 24 hours after resolution of fever without the use of fever-reducing medicines (example: Tylenol).  When you are at school and you have flu-like symptoms you are likely contagious, infecting students and staff members around you.  Staying at home while you are contagious is an important step in helping to contain the spread of any flu virus.

Thank you for all that you do to help our students.

Sincerely,

K. David Smith, Ed. D.

Division Superintendent
