Standard Description
The student will demonstrate growth in the use of oral language listening to a variety of literary forms, including stories and poems.

Understanding the Standard
​The intent of this standard is that students will expand their oral language vocabulary by listening to and participating in a variety of literacy experiences that reflect the Virginia Standards of Learning in English, history and social science, science, and mathematics.

Essential Understandings
​​All students should understand that oral language entertains and communicates information.

Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Processes
​To be successful with this standard, students are expected to listen to texts read aloud and ask and answer questions for further understanding.
