Strengths

Rick Bolling (9/29/2015 4:07 PM): Efficient and orderly clearing of hallways. SRO and Sheriff commented that this drill went very well. When examining some rooms to see where students were hidden, the sheriff and the principal found that students in those rooms were not visible or audible, even with the door open. This included preschool students in the library and kindergarten, first and second grade students in their rooms. Another strength was advanced preparation by teachers to encourage proper student behavior. Also, at a security training with SRO on Sept. 15, faculty and staff raised issues with keys - instructional assistants not having keys and keys not being available in central rooms used by multiple groups (computer labs, science lab, etc.) - those keys were made and hidden in key boxes in common use rooms and instructional assistants were issued keys to their room prior to the drill.

Areas for Improvement

Rick Bolling (9/29/2015 4:07 PM): PE teachers reported that students did not maintain quiet environment after the locker room where they were secured had been checked. After the drill the teachers and principal addressed the seriousness of the issue and that drills must be preparation for a real situation.
