Helping Your Kindergarten Title I Student

Body

Hello families!

Besides working on letter names and sounds, there are two other skills to help students with decoding and reading. First, help students practice identifying and matching items or pictures that begin with the same sound. For example, if you are riding down the road and see a buck, ask your child to name another thing that starts with the sound 'b.' Another skill to focus on are rhyming words. Examples of these would be ring, king, sing or sat, bat, hat. This also assists students in decoding and learning how to read!

All the best,

Mrs. Stout
