Historical Inquiry in Bath County Classrooms

This is a joint professional development initiative between the Bath County Historical Society and Bath County Public Schools to promote excellence in history education in elementary, middle, and high school classrooms.  Historians and curriculum specialists have been working with a cadre of lead teachers to provide the professional development in content and methodology to support educators as they develop competence in the practice of historical inquiry.  It is our hope that local educators will deepen understanding of local and regional history and apply this content knowledge to the design and drafting of inquiry-based instructional materials that incorporate primary sources from the Society’s collections.  The project is made possible by a grant from the Virginia Hot Springs Preservation Trust and the Virginia Foundation for the Humanities.  All resources available on this website are intended for non-commercial, educational use.
