BCHS Culinary Arts Students Excel at Regional and State Competitions

Students from around the region participated in the recent DSLCC/Homestead Young Chef Challenge competition. The BCHS cooking team pictured above came away with first place honors! In the Taste of Virginia contest, BCHS students placed second with their Apple Spins recipe, and third in the culinary Knowledge Bowl.
 
More recently, in the State FCCLA competition, Kiwi Plecker won a gold medal and placed second with her decorated cake, and won a $2,000 Culinary Institute of Virginia Scholarship. Katie Hostetter and Christal Colon won a bronze medal in the team competition Cook Off, and Monica Chen won a silver medal and second place in the Knife Skills and Chicken Fabrication event. Contratulations to all!
